From separate offers to one coherent campaign system

Outpace turned five of Orion Group’s distinct offers into a coherent, reusable campaign system for LeadershipOS. Instead of treating each message, landing page and follow-up route as a separate piece of work, Outpace designed one connected experience: meet the reader in a situation they recognise, make the value tangible, and offer a next step that feels useful and proportionate.

The result was not one template repeated five times. It was a shared campaign logic that could hold different audiences, offers and visual expressions together without making them feel generic. Nineteen messages were given clear individual jobs. Twelve declared destinations were aligned to the things each message promised. Four offer-specific landing experiences brought the propositions to life. OutpaceCRM made the system manageable by keeping the core message separate from the personal and organisational details that change from one recipient to another.

01Context

Where they started

LeadershipOS had several offers with different audiences and different reasons to care. A learning provider needed to see how Orion could extend an existing programme without displacing it. An association needed a member benefit that did not create more operational work. A capability leader needed a way to connect development activity with decisions about where support would help most.

Those differences mattered. Flattening them into a single campaign template would have made the work efficient at the cost of relevance. Designing every campaign from scratch would have protected relevance at the cost of coherence and repeatability.

A dated audit on 27 August showed a third risk: even strong individual messages could lose force when the wider journey was not connected. Some offers appeared late. Some links led to generic or outdated destinations. One message described an asset the reader could not open. In other cases, two actions competed for attention. The starting point was therefore reconstructed from the campaign record rather than measured through audience-performance data.

02Challenge

What was in the way

The challenge was to create consistency without sameness.

Each campaign needed to sound as though it understood the reader's world, not as though it had merely inserted their name into a standard pitch. Each message needed one clear job. Each landing experience needed to feel like a natural continuation of the promise that brought the reader there. Personalisation needed to remain manageable as names, organisations, examples and destinations changed.

At the same time, the system had to protect what Orion was trying to say across every offer: useful development is not only something people attend. It becomes more valuable when people can practise in real work, reflect, receive feedback and make capability visible over time.

03Objectives

What good looked like

  1. 01

Give every campaign a clear audience, tension, intended outcome and offer.

  2. 02

Give every message one job, one recipient experience and one primary next step.

  3. 03

Let the reader inspect the exact offer, asset or experience being described.

  4. 04

Preserve a recognisable LeadershipOS world while giving each offer its own visual character.

  5. 05

Keep reusable message structure separate from the details that vary by person, organisation and campaign.

  6. 06

Create an approach that can be used again without reducing future campaigns to a formula.

04Approach

The decisions that mattered

Outpace began with campaign logic rather than channel output. Across the five campaigns, Outpace developed eight shared principles: start with recognition, respect what already works, name a real tension without blame, show how capability develops, hold participant and buyer value together, make the value inspectable, give every message one job, and make the next step proportionate.

That logic shaped nineteen standalone messages. Their order could change because each performed a distinct job: opening a possibility, revealing a perspective, making the offer concrete, connecting it to a business outcome, or inviting a useful conversation. Consistency came from the reasoning behind the messages rather than from repeating the same words.

The landing experiences then carried the story forward visually. Four pages shared the typography, colour and sense of considered progress that make LeadershipOS recognisable, while imagery, composition and emphasis changed to suit the offer. The page did not repeat the email. It made the promise feel real.

Finally, OutpaceCRM connected the reusable system to the people receiving it. The message editor identifies which fields a message uses, distinguishes their sources, and brings identity, organisation-specific values and campaign links together in the preview. A team can adapt the context without duplicating the core message or losing track of where each value came from.

The operating idea is simple for the reader and connected underneath:

  1. A message feels relevant.
  2. The page makes the promise tangible.
  3. The next step feels useful and earned.
  4. The CRM keeps the person, organisation, offer and destination aligned across the journey.

05Business value

What changed

A reusable message system

BeforeFive campaign drafts did not yet share one documented standard

What changedEight shared principles were synthesised from five campaigns and 19 approved messages; every message was given one job, one recipient experience and one primary next step

What it does not proveEstablishes a reusable structure; future time saved has not been measured

Clearer message-to-offer journeys

BeforeOffers could appear late, lead to generic or outdated pages, remain inaccessible, or compete with another action

What changedCurrent campaign records align the promised offer or action to declared destinations; an automated source check confirms 12 distinct token-and-destination mappings

What it does not proveProves source-level alignment, not recipient engagement or conversion

Brand-connected landing experiences

BeforeDistinct offers needed their own expression without fragmenting the LeadershipOS brand

What changedFour offer-specific routes and reviewed visual captures show a shared design language with different imagery, compositions and propositions

What it does not proveProves designed and source-defined experiences, not public traffic or behavioural performance

Manageable personalisation

BeforeNames, organisations, examples and links risked being embedded in duplicated message versions

What changedOutpaceCRM separates reusable copy from identity, organisation-specific values and campaign links, shows their sources, and brings them together in the message preview

What it does not proveProves implemented capability and reviewed interface, not time saved in live campaign operation

Together, these changes create practical business value: less reinvention when a new offer is developed, clearer handoffs between message and page, fewer opportunities for the promise and destination to drift apart, and personal relevance without a collection of unmanageable one-off messages. These are benefits of the designed system; audience response and commercial performance remain to be measured separately.

06The lasting idea

Cohesion is not sameness.

A reusable campaign system does not need every message to sound alike or every page to look alike. It needs a consistent understanding of the reader, a clear job for every moment and an unbroken relationship between the promise and the next step.

07Transfer

If this sounds like you

The approach can carry into another campaign when three conditions are present: the audience and their situation can be understood specifically; the offer can be inspected rather than merely described; and the organisation can maintain the values and destinations that make the message relevant.

What carries forward is the decision system, not a rigid sequence. Begin in the reader's world. Decide the single job of the message. Make the exact value visible on the next surface. Keep changing details outside the reusable core. Then check the whole journey as one experience.

It is less useful where the offer itself is still unclear or where there is no credible next experience for the message to lead into. In those cases, producing more campaign material would hide the problem rather than solve it.
